Chaplain
One of the important roles in any police organization is the position of Police Chaplain. Jim Shackelford, a former Ohio State Trooper turned minister started the Palm Beach Gardens Police Chaplaincy program over 10 years ago while on staff at Christ Fellowship Church. His role as Chaplain may include, death notification, critical incident counseling, police weddings, funerals, invocations at award ceremonies, banquets, etc. Jim is certified by ICPC, (International Conference of Police Chaplains) and also assists several other departments in Palm Beach County, including the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, with chaplain-related services
They say Police work runs in the blood – Jim and his wife Jan have two sons who are Police Motorcycle Officers in Palm Beach County – James II is “Motor-3″ here in Palm Beach Gardens and Joel serves with the Lantana Police Department.
