CMP

VIPSOur “Citizens Mobile Patrol” is the largest volunteer body in the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department.

Currently made up of some 60+ men an women, the CMP patrols all the neighborhoods, gated communities, parks and businesses within the City. They are in direct communications with the Police Communications Bureau to report suspicious activity, suspicious persons, public safety concerns, etc. Communications then dispatches a sworn officer to assist the CMP patrol and to evaluate and handle the situation.

The Citizens Mobile Patrol also assists the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department in numerous activities throughout the city such as:

  • Conduct Doppler Radar Speed Surveys
  • Conduct Business Security Surveys
  • Conduct Residential Security Surveys
  • Parking Enforcement
  • Assist with Crime Prevention Programs/Event
  • Assist Police at Scenes of Crimes, Traffic Crashes, etc.

The Police Department provides a six hour block of training for new CMP Recruits. This includes a three hour classroom session and a three hour block on vehicle operations, equipment usage and traffic management.

Final CMP certification follows a mandatory two hour ride-along with an on-duty Palm Beach Gardens Police Officer and a two-hour ride-along with a CMP Field Training Officer.
